Bridget Coutts – Lawyer

Bridget is a considered and analytical lawyer.  She is actively involved in the legal community and brings to each matter a diverse wealth of knowledge and valuable skill set.

Bridget commenced her legal career at a generalist legal practice in Shepparton, with a particular focus on family law. She then moved to Melbourne and worked at a specialist boutique family law firm and a community legal centre.

Bridget has experience in all aspects of family law including parenting, property, spousal maintenance, child support and intervention orders.  Bridget is a strong advocate and regularly appears on behalf of clients in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and in the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria.

Bridget holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours)/ Bachelor of Global Studies. Bridget completed an honours thesis in her last semester of university which considered the impact of family violence intervention orders in parenting matters.

Bridget sits on the Victorian Women Lawyers (VWL) Executive Committee in the Special Projects Officer Portfolio.  She is also a member of the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia and Law Institute of Victoria.  Bridget previously held the position of co-chair for the VWL Mentoring Committee and has continued her involvement as a mentor in the VWL Mentoring Program.
